Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7, featuring a compact design that fits comfortably in one hand and enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, on July 9. Even when closed, users can access key features such as Gemini Live more intuitively and easily, significantly improving usability.
On July 9 (local time), Samsung Electronics introduced the new foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip7, at the "Galaxy Unpacked 2025" event held at Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
Roh Tae-moon, Acting Head of Samsung Electronics DX Division, stated, "The Galaxy Z Flip7 combines a compact design with powerful mobile AI features," adding, "Through innovative cover screen-centered interactions, it will make users' lives smarter."
First, the "Flex Window" on the front has been expanded, enhancing usability for replying to messages, playing music, and checking schedules. Google's real-time AI feature, Gemini Live, can be easily used on the Flex Window with voice commands. It responds to everyday requests such as checking flight information, recommending nearby places, and registering schedules, and provides real-time assistance based on what the user is viewing through the camera sharing feature.
The newly released Galaxy AI, based on One UI 8, is optimized for the Flip UX, enabling users to intuitively perform various tasks directly from the Flex Window.
The "Now Bar," accessible from the Flex Window, provides at-a-glance real-time information from applications, video and music controls, and live sports scores. The "Now Brief" automatically recommends personalized information based on location, time, and usage habits.
The device is also equipped with a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide dual camera, making it ideal for capturing landscapes or taking high-quality selfies directly from the Flex Window. The "FlexCam," which allows users to launch the camera directly from the Flex Window, applies real-time filters even when the phone is closed.
When folded, the device is 13.7mm thick, which is 1.2mm thinner than the previous Flip6, and weighs 188g, similar to its predecessor. The bezel has also become thinner at 1.25mm. It supports a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, and the "Vision Booster" feature, which automatically adjusts brightness according to the surrounding environment.
For the first time in the Galaxy Z Flip series, a 4,300mAh battery has been installed, enabling stable long-term use. Notably, instead of Qualcomm's Snapdragon, Samsung has equipped the device with its own Exynos 2500 application processor (AP), taking a bold step forward.
The cover and back are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, making them more resistant to everyday scratches and impacts. The frame uses sturdy Armor Aluminum, and the hinge features a thinner yet stronger Armor Flex Hinge, ensuring stable opening and closing over extended use without deformation.
For the first time in the Flip series, "Samsung DeX" is supported, allowing the Flip7 to connect to external displays, mice, and keyboards. While maintaining the compact design of the Flip, users can now perform various tasks such as document editing and presentations on a larger screen.
In addition, security has been enhanced across both the device and network. Through Samsung "Knox Matrix," the security environment across the entire Galaxy ecosystem has been strengthened. The newly introduced "Keep," based on One UI 8, creates encrypted, independent storage spaces for each app to securely protect sensitive information. Quantum-resistant encryption has also been applied to Secure Wi-Fi, further enhancing security and privacy when using public networks.
Samsung Electronics will begin rolling out the Flip7 worldwide, including in Korea, starting July 25. Pre-orders in Korea will be available for seven days from July 15 to July 21. The device will be released in three colors: Blue Shadow, Coral Red, and Jet Black. An exclusive Mint color, available only on Samsung.com and at "Samsung Gangnam," will also be offered.
The price for the 12GB memory, 256GB storage model is 1,485,000 KRW, and the 512GB model is 1,643,400 KRW, with no significant difference from the previous model. Samsung Electronics will offer a "double storage" benefit, upgrading the storage to 512GB free of charge for customers who pre-order the Flip7 256GB model.
Meanwhile, to provide the foldable experience to more users, Samsung Electronics will also launch the affordable "Galaxy Z Flip7 FE."
The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE will be sold through online channels other than Samsung.com. It will be available in two colors, Black and White, with 8GB memory and 256GB storage, priced at 1,199,000 KRW.
