Samsung Electronics Holds Galaxy Unpacked 2025
First Galaxy Watch to Feature "Antioxidant Index"
Measures Various Health Indicators Including Vascular Stress
Samsung Electronics unveiled its new Galaxy Watch8 series on July 9, offering users meticulous health management in daily life. Despite being the thinnest design in the Galaxy Watch lineup, the new series features advanced health monitoring capabilities, including vascular stress and carotenoid level measurements.
On July 9, Samsung Electronics introduced the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic at the 'Galaxy Unpacked 2025' event held at Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
The Galaxy Watch8 features a slim and minimalist design optimized for everyday health management, while the Galaxy Watch8 Classic adds convenience to the analog watch experience with a rotating bezel and quick button.
Lee Taemoon, acting head of Samsung Electronics' DX division, stated, "The new Galaxy Watch8 series sets a new standard for wearables by completely redesigning both components and exterior based on Samsung's hardware innovation," adding, "We will provide users with more precise information to help them develop healthy habits."
The Galaxy Watch8 series achieves the thinnest design and best-ever wearing comfort among Galaxy Watches, while enhancing its functionality. By redesigning the internal structure of components and improving component integration by 30%, the thickness has been reduced by 11% compared to the Watch7. Additionally, the band attachment structure has been improved for optimal wrist movement, enhancing comfort and increasing the accuracy of health indicators.
The Galaxy Watch8 series provides insights across all aspects of health, from sleep to diet and exercise, helping users form healthy habits. For the first time in a smartwatch, it features an 'Antioxidant Index' function, allowing users to measure carotenoid levels, one of the antioxidant components, in just five seconds. Users can intuitively check how changes in diet or lifestyle affect their bodies, motivating them to develop healthier habits.
Vascular stress can now also be measured during sleep. The vascular stress function indicates the degree of stress placed on the cardiovascular system. It not only tracks changes in vascular stress based on reference values, but also helps manage lifestyle patterns that affect cardiovascular health, such as sleep, stress, exercise, and eating habits.
In addition, the 'High Stress Alert' function notifies users to take a break when high stress levels persist for a certain period. The 'Mindfulness' feature supports users in easily starting breathing exercises and recording their mood.
The AI-based 'Energy Score' comprehensively manages users' condition by considering the physical and mental impact of health on daily life, helping them plan for a healthier day.
Through collaboration between Samsung Electronics and Google, the Galaxy Watch8 series is the first to feature Wear OS 6 and Gemini. Users can easily perform various actions with voice commands in a conversational manner. For example, by saying, "Start a 300kcal circuit training workout," the Samsung Health app will launch the workout function.
The Galaxy Watch8 will be available in two colors, Silver and Graphite, and in two sizes, 44mm and 46mm. The Classic model will be released in Black and White, in a single 46mm size.
The Galaxy Watch8 is priced at 459,000 KRW for the 44mm Bluetooth model, 489,500 KRW for the 44mm LTE model, 419,000 KRW for the 46mm Bluetooth model, and 449,900 KRW for the 46mm LTE model. The Classic is priced at 569,000 KRW for the 46mm Bluetooth model and 599,500 KRW for the 46mm LTE model.
Additionally, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is now available in a new Titanium Blue color. Optimized for outdoor activities, it boasts the highest durability and longest battery life among the Galaxy Watch series.
The new Galaxy Watch products will be released sequentially worldwide starting July 25.
In Korea, pre-orders will begin at midnight on July 10 through online open markets such as Samsung.com, Naver, Coupang, 11st, and Gmarket.
