Three of Four Missing While Playing in Geumgang River Found in Cardiac Arrest (Comprehensive)

Three out of the four people in their 20s who went missing while playing in the water near the upper stream of the Geumgang River in Geumsan-gun, Chungnam Province, on July 9, were found in cardiac arrest.


Police and fire authorities discovered the three missing individuals one after another during their search operations at 8:46 p.m., 9:04 p.m., and 9:28 p.m. on the same day.

Earlier, at around 6:19 p.m. on the same day, a 119 report was received stating that four people in their 20s who were playing in the water near the upper stream of the Geumgang River in Cheonnaeri, Geumsan-gun, had gone missing.


According to fire authorities, five people, including a 23-year-old man identified as A, visited Geumsan from Daejeon to play in the water. A, who made the report, was one of the five. After returning from the restroom, he found his friends missing and called 119.


Police and fire authorities have deployed 100 pieces of equipment, including lighting vehicles, rescue boats, and helicopters, along with about 100 search personnel to conduct nighttime search operations.
