Russia has launched the largest-ever assault on Ukraine.
According to the Associated Press and other sources, the Ukrainian Air Force announced that during the night of July 8 to 9 (local time), Russia launched 728 drones and 13 missiles, of which 718 were intercepted or neutralized. This marks the largest single drone attack since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the northwestern city of Lutsk, bordering Poland and Belarus, suffered the most damage, and 10 other regions were also hit by airstrikes. Lutsk is home to a Ukrainian military airfield, with cargo planes and fighter jets frequently flying over the city. It is not yet known whether there have been any casualties.
Western Ukraine is a key logistics hub, as it has airfields and warehouses that receive crucial military supplies from abroad. Russia has been increasing long-range attacks to disrupt these operations.
While intensifying its offensive on the eastern front, Russia continues to carry out airstrikes across Ukraine. Western experts believe that as Russia expands its drone production, it may soon be able to launch up to 1,000 drones in a single night.
