The keynote lecture will be delivered by Bae Byungseon, former director of the National Buyeo Cultural Heritage Research Institute, who served as the inaugural head of the Baekje Royal Capital Core Heritage Preservation and Management Preparatory Team and established the master plan for restoration and maintenance. He will share insights into the process of formulating the master plan at the time, under the theme of "Frugality without narrowness, splendor without extravagance," as described in the Baekje section of the "Samguk Sagi."
The subsequent presentations will address the achievements and future tasks of the 10th anniversary of World Heritage inscription, the significance of the inscription as seen through social indicators, and strategies for expanding the inscription.
Participation in the conference requires registration either through the official website or on-site. It will also be available for viewing on the National Heritage Administration's YouTube channel.
The Baekje Historic Areas, Korea's twelfth World Heritage Site, refers to eight sites established after Baekje relocated its capital from Hanseong to Ungjin (Gongju) in 475, following pressure from Goguryeo. These include Gongsanseong Fortress, the Royal Tomb of King Muryeong and the Royal Tombs in Gongju, the Gwanbuk-ri Ruins, Busosanseong Fortress, Jeongnimsa Temple Site, Naseong City Wall, and the Royal Tombs in Buyeo, as well as the Mireuksa Temple Site and Wanggung-ri Ruins in Iksan, North Jeolla Province.
