Under the theme of "Fight Heat with Heat: Chinese Health Dishes," Emart will introduce three types of Chinese cuisine: "Buldogjang WITH Lee Kum Kee (13,980 KRW)," "Jeongabok WITH Lee Kum Kee (13,980 KRW)," and "Sanratang WITH Lee Kum Kee (9,980 KRW)." The prices are set at about one-fifth of those at traditional Chinese restaurants, making it more accessible for a wider range of customers to enjoy.
Buldogjang is a traditional Chinese soup dish made by simmering various ingredients such as abalone from Wando, matsutake mushrooms, and bamboo shoots in a broth containing Shaoxing wine, a Chinese liquor. True to its name, which means "a dish so delicious that even monks would jump over the wall to eat it," it is a beloved premium health food. Jeongabok, a dish served at Chinese banquets, and Sanratang, a spicy and tangy Sichuan dish, are also designed to stimulate the appetites of consumers weary from the summer heat.
Ham Dongwoo, a chef from the product development division who previously worked at Josun Hotel's Chinese restaurant, participated in developing these Chinese health dish recipes. Chef Ham devoted significant effort and research to preserve the traditional flavors while also creating a unique Emart twist. While it typically takes about three to four months to develop a deli ready-to-eat meal, it reportedly took over eight months to complete these new products. The dishes were developed using oyster sauce from the global sauce brand Lee Kum Kee.
In addition, Emart will offer discounts on popular health-boosting ingredients such as Samgyetang, eel, and abalone. From July 11 to 16, customers who check "Buyer's Magazine" in the Emart application (app) can receive a 10% discount coupon for "Peacock Abalone Samgyetang (900g/11,980 KRW)," "Peacock Whole Chicken Leg Nurungji Baeksuk (580g/6,480 KRW)," and "Bibigo Perilla Seed Nurungji Samgyetang (850g/10,980 KRW)." For both Peacock Abalone Samgyetang and Peacock Whole Chicken Leg Nurungji Baeksuk, customers will receive one additional item when they purchase two by July 16.
Emart's "Order to Home" direct delivery service will also offer discounts on Chobok foods. When paying in full with a promotional card, customers can receive up to 20% off on ginseng for Samgyetang, Samgyetang ingredients, domestic beef brisket for boiled dishes (2kg), domestic abalone (1.4kg, large/extra-large), freshwater eel, and wild-caught sea eel.
Jung Woojin, head of marketing at Emart, stated, "As the hot weather continues, we are launching premium Chinese health dishes at affordable prices and holding promotions for popular health foods such as Samgyetang, eel, and abalone. We will continue to strive to provide not only differentiated customer experiences but also the best quality and prices."
