Deep Gratitude Extended to Field Workers
Who Quietly Stand Guard Despite the Heatwave
Seo Jungguk, Mayor of Uichang District Office in Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, visited local cleaning areas to encourage field workers who are dedicated to providing a pleasant living environment for citizens despite the ongoing heatwave.
During the visit on July 8, about 20 people, including environmental workers, attended. Mayor Seo shook hands with each person and expressed his gratitude, saying, "You are the true heroes who quietly shine a light on Changwon behind the daily lives of citizens."
In addition, to ensure safety in high-temperature environments during the summer, he personally explained and strongly urged thorough adherence to the "Five Major Heatwave Countermeasures" and heat-related illness prevention guidelines on site. These include: drinking water frequently, resting in well-ventilated shade, taking breaks of at least 20 minutes every two hours, wearing cooling gear, and knowing emergency procedures.
He also handed out refreshing watermelon to the workers on site as a gesture of encouragement and listened to their suggestions and concerns.
To respond to the heatwave, Uichang District has provided various supplies to the field, such as safety goggles, cooling sleeves, saline glucose, and cooling headbands. The district also plans to actively pursue further improvements to the field-based working environment in the future.
Mayor Seo Jungguk stated, "During the heatwave period, the health and safety of field workers is the most important priority," and added, "We will continue to develop practical support measures that reflect the voices of those on site."
