Yunnan Agricultural University is a leading agricultural university in Yunnan Province, which is renowned worldwide as a major production area for Pu'er tea. The university is equipped with educational and research capabilities that cover all aspects of the tea industry, including tea cultivation, processing, and distribution.
The delegation also attended the 47th Boseong Dahyang Tea Festival held in May last year, where they provided professional consulting on the potential for exporting Boseong tea to China. This latest visit is expected to serve as a turning point for expanding practical cooperation between the two institutions.
On the day of the visit, the delegation visited Boseong County Office and held a meeting with County Governor Kim Cheolwoo to exchange views on strategies for nurturing tea industry professionals, operating international tea culture exchange programs, and developing joint strategies to expand Boseong tea exports.
The delegation also toured Boseong tea fields, tea farms, and processing facilities, directly confirming the excellence and distribution infrastructure of Boseong tea. They showed keen interest in experiential and tourism programs linked to tea cultivation and processing.
Governor Kim Cheolwoo stated, "It was a meaningful occasion for Boseong and Yunnan in China to seek practical development together through the tea industry," and added, "We will continue to promote exchanges to lay the foundation for the globalization of Boseong tea and achieve tangible export results."
Meanwhile, the county is expanding its cooperative network with overseas universities and research institutions to create high added value in the tea industry and is continuing various international exchange activities to globalize Boseong tea.
