Samsung Electronics has once again redefined the standard for foldable smartphones. With the unveiling of the new Galaxy Z Fold7?the thinnest and lightest model in the history of the Galaxy Z Fold series?the company has elevated both hardware design and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. By setting a new benchmark for foldable phones, Samsung aims to solidify its dominance in the premium smartphone market.

On July 9 (local time), Samsung Electronics held the 'Galaxy Unpacked 2025' event at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, New York, where it introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7. This marks the first time in three years, since August 2022, that Samsung has unveiled a new product in New York, the heart of the United States.

Noh Taemun, Acting President and Head of the Device Experience (DX) Division, stated, "The Galaxy Z Fold7 delivers the most advanced smartphone experience ever introduced by Samsung by combining hardware and AI. We have achieved a harmonious balance between design and engineering, enabling users to enjoy a powerful, immersive, and intuitive experience in the palm of their hand."

The Thinnest and Lightest Z Fold Ever: A Smartphone in One Hand, a Tablet When Unfolded

The Z Fold7 features the thinnest design in the series, measuring 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded. Its weight has been reduced to 215g, making it lighter than its predecessor.

The display consists of an 8.0-inch main screen and a 6.5-inch cover screen. The main display is approximately 11% larger than the previous model, offering the largest screen among Galaxy smartphones. The cover display features a 21:9 aspect ratio, making it easy to operate with one hand. When folded, it functions like a bar-type smartphone; when unfolded, it provides a tablet-like experience.

Durability has also been enhanced. The new Armor Flex Hinge, high-strength aluminum frame, and the latest reinforced glass (Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and Victus 2) have been applied, achieving both a slim design and robust durability.

200-Megapixel Camera and AI Editing: Ultra-Level Content Experience

The Z Fold7 is equipped with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which improves the performance of the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and neural processing unit (NPU). The speed of AI-based task processing has also been improved compared to the previous model.

The rear features a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera, while the front is equipped with a 100-degree ultra-wide selfie camera. The AI-powered Pro Visual Engine automatically corrects image quality, enabling users to capture clear photos and videos even in low-light conditions. Additionally, the Generative Editing feature allows for easy post-editing, such as background removal and audio muting.

AI Optimized for Foldables: Evolved Security

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is designed to maximize the use of its large screen through the multimodal Galaxy AI, based on the One UI 8 platform optimized for mobile AI. With Gemini Live, users can share their screen or camera for real-time search, and the AI Result View feature allows generated information to be naturally arranged in a split-screen format. Other AI features include Circle to Search, Generative Editing, and Voice-Based Search.

Security features have also been further strengthened. The new "KEEP" function provides an independent encrypted storage space for each application, while the security platform "Knox Matrix" enables threat detection and automatic blocking across devices. In addition, Security Wi-Fi now incorporates quantum-resistant encryption technology, allowing for safer use even on public networks.
