President Lee Jae Myung: "Let's Lead Korea's New Leap Forward Through Scientific and Technological Innovation"

Congratulatory Address at the 2025 World Korean Scientists and Engineers Convention

President Lee Jae Myung has declared his strong commitment to driving the growth of the Korean economy through scientific and technological innovation.

On July 9, at the '2025 World Korean Scientists and Engineers Convention' held at the Science and Technology Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, President Lee delivered a congratulatory message read by Minister of Science and ICT Yoo Sang Im. In the message, he stated that Korea will overcome domestic challenges such as disparities, inequality, low growth, and low birth rates, as well as international crises such as the AI-driven global competition and the climate crisis, through scientific and technological innovation, thereby opening the door to new growth.


President Lee emphasized, "The Republic of Korea now stands at a crossroads between survival and advancement," and stressed, "The key to overcoming this crisis and opening the door to new growth is science and technology." He further asserted, "Only bold investment and overwhelming, super-gap technologies can lead the world. Securing sovereignty in advanced technologies and leading future industries to achieve a new leap forward based on science and technology will be the driving force of growth."


President Lee also promised, "The government will spare no effort in supporting science and technology and enabling scientists and engineers to fully demonstrate their capabilities as the main drivers of the nation's future." He announced plans to actively support Korea's renewed progress through technology-driven growth by expanding investment in science and technology, fostering future strategic industries, and securing advanced technologies.


In addition, President Lee expressed his intention to focus on securing and nurturing outstanding scientific and technological talent to lead Korea's future and innovation in science and technology. To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Liberation, descendants of independence activists who are now scientists and engineers also attended the convention.
