Securing Consecutive Large-Scale Projects Demonstrates Construction Capabilities
Obtaining Lead Role in Subsea Cable Installation as Preferred Bidder
LS Marine Solution has secured the lead role in the subsea cable installation for the 'Shinan Ui Offshore Wind Project'.
On July 9, LS Marine Solution announced that it has been selected as the preferred bidder for the subsea cable installation segment of the 'Shinan Ui Offshore Wind Project', which is being developed near Uido, Shinan County, South Jeolla Province. This 390MW (megawatt) offshore wind project is led by a consortium headed by Hanwha Ocean and SK EterNix. The main construction is scheduled to begin within this year, with subsea cable installation planned for 2027, and commercial operation expected to start in early 2029.
LS Marine Solution has continued to secure large-scale projects, including the Taiwan Power Company TPC2 (295MW) project contract and selection as the preferred bidder for the Haesong Offshore Wind (1GW) project. With the addition of the Shinan Ui Offshore Wind project, the company expressed confidence that it has once again demonstrated its construction capabilities and global execution competence.
LS Marine Solution explained that its successful construction experience with the Phase 1 Offshore Wind Project in South Jeolla Province last year, as well as its close cooperation with Hanwha Ocean that has continued since the wind farm planning stage, were key factors in this achievement.
Kim Byungok, CEO of LS Marine Solution, stated, "This project marks the practical starting point of the Shinan Offshore Wind Belt, which is planned to have a total capacity of 8.2GW (gigawatts)," adding, "We expect it to serve as a stepping stone for winning subsequent projects."
Meanwhile, LS Marine Solution is also accelerating its expansion into the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) subsea cable market. Leveraging its experience in constructing the Jeju subsea power grid and the construction of the country's only dedicated HVDC installation vessel, the company is also actively preparing to participate in the 'West Coast HVDC Energy Highway' project, which is expected to be worth several trillion won.
