The First Step Toward Preventing Lonely Deaths
The Janganyeup Administrative Welfare Center in Gijang County (headed by Park Kyunghee) recently concluded the single-person household social network formation support project, "Majubom (Time to Exchange Hearts)."

The main activities included: ▲ making mood lamp terrariums (capacity building), ▲ a special laughter therapy lecture (emotional support), and ▲ creative traditional group games. These activities allowed participants to experience psychological stability and a sense of accomplishment, while naturally creating opportunities for communication among neighbors.
Participant A said, "By making things myself and talking and laughing with others through the program, I felt much lighter at heart," adding, "I definitely want to participate in the next program as well."
Park Kyunghee, head of Janganyeup, stated, "With the recent increase in single-person households, lonely deaths are emerging as a social issue. Emotional connections among neighbors are therefore not just a matter of leisure, but a task directly linked to quality of life," adding, "We will continue to operate sustainable and effective emotional support programs so that warm exchanges can become part of daily life."
Starting with this project, Janganyeup plans to discover and operate various small-scale village community programs on different themes in the second half of the year.
