Director Shin Jaeheung Successfully Concludes the "2025 Korean Cervical Spine Research Society Conference," Leading Academic Exchange in the Spine Field

Shin Jaeheung, Director of Dongtan City Hospital, an educational cooperation hospital of Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital, successfully concluded an academic exchange at the "2025 5th Annual Conference of the Korean Cervical Spine Research Society" held on Saturday, July 5, at Choi Deokkyung Hall, Korea University College of Medicine.

This year's conference, themed "Re-visit CSRS-AP 2025," was structured as an in-depth symposium focusing on international academic presentations in the field of cervical spine. The event provided a platform for sharing the latest treatment strategies for cervical spine disorders, advanced surgical techniques, and practical clinical knowledge on managing potential intraoperative complications.

At the conference, Director Shin presented on the directions of minimally invasive treatment for cervical spine disorders and shared clinical experiences with endoscopic surgical cases. In particular, he addressed specific surgical strategies to prevent common complications that may occur during full endoscopic cervical spine surgeries (PECF, PECD, CE-ULBD).

His presentation covered major complications encountered during actual surgeries, including epidural hematoma, dural injury and spinal cord contusion, nerve root injury due to excessive traction, and misidentification of double nerve roots. He discussed the causes of each complication and emphasized the importance of understanding anatomical structures and mastering surgical techniques, illustrating these points with clinical cases.

Known for his active domestic and international academic activities in the field of spinal endoscopy, Director Shin used this conference as an opportunity to share practical surgical strategies aimed at enhancing the safety and completeness of cervical endoscopic surgery, and to explore future treatment directions with colleagues.

A representative from Dongtan City Hospital, an educational cooperation hospital of Kangdong Kyung Hee University Hospital, stated, "This academic conference was a meaningful opportunity not only for sharing professional knowledge among medical staff but also for exchanging diverse perspectives on cervical spine treatment. Director Shin Jaeheung's ongoing research activities are positively impacting the hospital's clinical capabilities, as well as contributing to the education of medical staff and the improvement of medical service quality."
