Exploring Inscriptions Engraved on Ceramics and Metal Crafts

Academic Conference on Current Research Status to Be Held by the National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage

The National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage and the Korean Society of East Asian Art History will hold an academic conference on July 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the main auditorium of the National Palace Museum of Korea, under the theme "Current Research and Utilization of Inscriptions on Art Heritage." The conference will share the current state of research on inscriptions found on various ceramics and metal crafts.

Goryeo Dynasty Bronze Incense Burner Engraved with 'Muja (戊子)'

The institute will introduce inscription data collected from Goryeo and Joseon dynasty ceramics and metal crafts, and will also examine domestic and international research cases from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan. Presentations will include topics such as the establishment of a database for Japanese ink-inscribed (mukseo) pottery, and the current state of inscription research on Qing dynasty imperial bronze artifacts.

A representative from the institute stated, "By reflecting on the significance and importance of inscription research recorded on art heritage, we hope to lay the groundwork for further in-depth studies and the development of comprehensive information systems in the future."
