Coupang Receives Minister of Trade Commendation: "Expanding Market Access in Taiwan for Korean SMEs"

Contribution to Activating Rocket Delivery of 12,000 Small and Medium Enterprises, Including K-Food, Beauty, and Fashion, to Taiwan

Coupang announced that it received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy at the "2025 Designation Ceremony for Specialized Trading Companies" held at COEX, Seoul, on the morning of July 8, 2025.

The Specialized Trading Company system designates companies with overseas networks and export capabilities to support the overseas expansion of export beginners. Coupang was recognized for accelerating the export of small and medium-sized enterprise products such as K-food and K-beauty to the Taiwan market since being designated as a Specialized Trading Company in July 2024. Coupang was the only B2C-based distribution company to receive this commendation.

Coupang directly purchases products from small and medium-sized enterprises in Korea and delivers them to customers in Taiwan through Rocket Delivery. Coupang fully covers all export-related costs, including overseas shipping, translation, customs clearance, and local marketing. The company is credited with lowering barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises to enter the Taiwan market and supporting their overseas expansion.

With this commendation, Coupang plans to strengthen cooperation with related organizations such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Coupang will actively utilize support benefits for Specialized Trading Companies, such as a 40% discount on export insurance and a 1.5-fold increase in export guarantee limits, to enhance the export capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises to Taiwan. The designation as a Specialized Trading Company is valid until June 2027.

Within one year of launching Rocket Jikgu and Rocket Delivery services in Taiwan in October 2022, Coupang supported the export of products from more than 12,000 small and medium-sized enterprises to Taiwan?the largest scale among single distribution companies. As of 2023, the number of small business partners exporting to Taiwan through Coupang increased by more than 140% compared to the previous year, and transaction volume grew by 2,600%. Approximately 70% of all sellers trading with Coupang are small business owners. In particular, small business owners exporting K-beauty products (such as gel nail and mask packs) and K-food products (such as red ginseng and kombucha) have seen significant growth in their sales to Taiwan.

Hyeyoung Yoon, Head of Retail Division at Coupang, stated, "Coupang has pioneered new sales channels through direct purchasing and logistics innovation so that small and medium-sized enterprise products such as K-food and K-beauty can become central to K-trends in the Taiwan market. With this commendation as an opportunity, we will cooperate with the government to further expand exports of K-products to Taiwan and continue to support the global growth of small and medium-sized enterprises."
