Godeokcheon, Gangbit Forest Neighborhood Park, and More

Gangdong-gu in Seoul will begin full-scale operation of water playgrounds at waterfront spaces and parks in the district this month, allowing residents to enjoy a refreshing summer escape within the city.

The Godeokcheon Water Playground (491 Sangil-dong), which opened on July 1, will be available free of charge to everyone until August 31. It operates from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, and is closed on Mondays.

In addition, water playgrounds will be available from this month until August 24 at Gangbit Forest Neighborhood Park (Gangil-dong), Durieorinipark (Godeok-dong), and Seongsim Children's Park (Gil-dong).

Mobile water playgrounds will also be set up in parks that previously did not have water facilities. From July 23 to August 17, temporary water playgrounds equipped with water slides and pools will open at Beolmal Neighborhood Park Retention Pond (80 Arisuro 94-gil) and Amsa History Park (137-2 Amsa-dong). From August 1 to 17, mobile water playgrounds will also operate at Seongnae Hani Park (71 Seongnaero 3-gagil) and Olympic Park Foreon No. 1 Neighborhood Park (172-1 Dunchon-dong).

To ensure the safety of children and residents using the water playgrounds, the district will provide daily water replacement, frequent removal of debris, deployment of professional safety personnel, and real-time monitoring through CCTV for safe and pleasant water playground operations.

Additionally, the district operates water features such as ground fountains and the Iljasan Waterfall to help residents cool off during hot weather. The operating periods and hours of each water playground and water feature may change depending on weather conditions and other factors.

Lee Soohee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, "With an early heatwave forecast for this summer, we have prepared water playgrounds as urban summer retreats where families can enjoy themselves without traveling far," adding, "We will ensure that all residents can use these facilities with peace of mind through thorough safety and hygiene management."
