Kim Tae-heum Hopes for Chungnam's Leading Media Outlet
"May It Benefit Residents' Lives"
The only terrestrial radio broadcaster in Chungcheongnam-do has finally begun airing.
On July 8, the Korea Road Traffic Authority's TBN Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting held its opening ceremony at its new headquarters in Naepo New Town, Chungnam, and broadcast its first signal at 10:39 a.m. The frequency is 103.9MHz, and for the Cheonan and Asan areas, it is broadcast on 103.1MHz.
With this launch, Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting will deliver not only traffic and disaster information but also music, lifestyle information, and local news in real time throughout the province.
Major local programs include ▲"Start! Chungnam Parade" (7:00-9:00 a.m.), ▲"TBN Chungnam Magazine" (4:00-6:00 p.m.), and ▲"Running Radio" (6:00-8:00 p.m.).
Each program offers a diverse range of content, including traffic updates during commuting hours, provincial news, features on notable people, as well as local content such as culture, tourism, and economy, and practical lifestyle information.
Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting began full-scale operations approximately one year and eleven months after receiving its broadcasting license from the Korea Communications Commission in August 2023.
The new headquarters, located in the Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex at Hanulmaeul Intersection in Naepo New Town, was built on a 7,512-square-meter site, with three above-ground floors and a total floor area of 2,994 square meters. The total project cost of 29.56 billion won was fully funded by the national government.
The new building is equipped with an open hall, a main conference room, a traffic information control room, and studios. There is also an outdoor plaza and performance venue, enabling a variety of resident participation events in the future.
The broadcasts are transmitted throughout Chungnam via five transmission and relay stations located at Wonhyobong in Seosan, Heukseongsan in Cheonan, Okmasan in Boryeong, Gyeryongsan, and Geumsan.
Governor Kim Tae-heum said, "I hope Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting will grow into Chungnam's leading media outlet, providing residents not only with real-time disaster and traffic information but also with lifestyle-oriented content," adding, "I will personally become a regular listener as well."
Meanwhile, with the launch of Chungnam Traffic Broadcasting, residents will now be able to access faster and more accurate real-time traffic and disaster information, greatly expanding its role as a channel for regional communication.
