Participation from 148 Universities Nationwide, 198 Counseling Booths to Be Operated
The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education announced on July 8 that it will host the '2025 Gwangju Career and University Admissions Expo' at the Kimdaejung Convention Center from July 18 to 19. This year's expo will feature participation from 148 universities nationwide, an increase of 18 from last year's 130, making it the largest event of its kind to date.
During the event, admissions officers from 148 universities, including major universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, will operate 198 counseling booths. There will be in-depth university admissions counseling for third-year high school students, as well as customized admissions programs for first- and second-year students. In addition, 70 university admissions counseling teachers from the Gwangju Career and University Admissions Support Group will be present on-site, providing one-on-one counseling to approximately 500 third-year high school students.
Special lectures related to university admissions are also scheduled. On July 18, there will be a special lecture on preparing for the comprehensive student record admissions interview by Lee Jeongrim, an admissions officer from Konkuk University; a lecture on the 2026-2027 university admissions system by Kim Jinseok, an instructor from EBS; and a special lecture analyzing advanced academic departments by Jo Manki, a teacher from Dasan High School in Gyeonggi Province. On July 19, special lectures will include an overview of the 2028 university admissions system reform by Jo Junghoon, a university admissions support officer from Gwangju, and customized lectures for students in the arts, music, and physical education tracks.
There will also be joint university admissions briefings for universities in the Seoul and Gwangju regions, information sessions for medical, dental, and pharmacy programs, mock interviews for the comprehensive student record admissions process, and university-specific admissions briefings. Students who wish to participate in the expo can register in advance on the event website starting at 1:00 p.m. on July 12. Registration for each program will close on a first-come, first-served basis.
