Gwangju City announced on July 8 that it will hold the "National Support Project Briefing on Carbon Neutrality Implementation for Small and Medium Enterprises and Mid-sized Companies" at Kimdaejung Convention Center at 3:00 p.m. on July 9, in collaboration with the Gwangju Climate and Energy Agency and Gwangju Technopark.

This briefing aims to introduce government carbon neutrality support programs to help small and medium enterprises and mid-sized companies in the Gwangju area voluntarily reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The purpose is to provide information that can ease the burden on companies and encourage practical implementation.

At the briefing, the Korea Energy Agency, Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and Korea Environment Corporation will participate to introduce a variety of national support programs available to small and medium enterprises and mid-sized companies, including the Energy Efficiency Innovation Leading Project (KEEP+), the Carbon Neutrality Facility Investment Support Project, and the Smart Eco-Factory Construction Project.

In addition, Yoon Taehwan, CEO of Root Energy Co., Ltd., will deliver a special lecture on the topic of "RE100 Response Strategies," explaining responses to global environmental regulations such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and policy changes such as the establishment of the Ministry of Climate and Energy.

The city is pursuing carbon neutrality projects in the industrial sector, such as building self-sufficient energy infrastructure in industrial complexes, with the goal of achieving "carbon neutrality by 2045." In addition, Gwangju has introduced "Corporate Carbon Action" for the first time in the country to encourage voluntary greenhouse gas reduction by companies and simulated emissions trading.

This briefing is being held as part of the "Gwangju City Corporate Carbon Neutrality Transition Support Policy," and the city plans to develop and implement various carbon neutrality support measures in the future.

Na Byeongchun, Director of the Climate and Air Policy Division, said, "This briefing has been organized to introduce government support policies for carbon neutrality and to strengthen the response capabilities of companies," adding, "We hope for active interest and participation in Corporate Carbon Action, which is open to all companies."

Meanwhile, this briefing will be held as a side event of the "2025 Korea Climate Environment Energy Expo," and any local company or relevant staff member can participate.
