"Seoul Wallet" and "Seoul Citizen Card" to Be Integrated into a Single App Starting in October

Integration of Overlapping Features and Introduction of New Functions

Seoul City's public service platform "Seoul Wallet" and the mobile membership card app "Seoul Citizen Card" will be integrated and officially launched at the end of October.

On July 8, the city announced that it would integrate the blockchain-based non-face-to-face public service platform Seoul Wallet and the public facility mobile membership Seoul Citizen Card into a single app. As a result, citizens will no longer need to activate each app separately to use facilities or receive services, which is expected to greatly enhance convenience.

"Seoul Wallet" and "Seoul Citizen Card" to Be Integrated into a Single App Starting in October

Seoul Wallet is an app that allows users to issue 34 types of certificates, such as resident registration certificates and health insurance qualification statements, and to verify eligibility for welfare services such as youth monthly rent assistance. The cumulative number of subscribers is 150,000. The Seoul Citizen Card is a mobile integrated membership card that can be used at 837 public facilities in the city, including municipal and district libraries, sports facilities, and youth centers. Currently, 340,000 citizens are using it.

The integrated app will include a personalized benefits feature called "My Seoul+." By entering one's name and resident registration number, users such as youth, middle-aged adults, and pregnant women will receive information tailored to their life stage. For example, high school students will be informed about "Seoul Scholarship Foundation scholarships," while young adults will receive information on "youth monthly rent assistance."

Membership registration and authentication procedures will also become more convenient. Scanning a QR code will allow users to log in to the homepage and authenticate services, expanding the available methods. Duplicate menus that existed in each app have also been integrated to improve user convenience.

Before the launch of the integrated app, the city is currently transferring data from existing Seoul Wallet and Seoul Citizen Card users. Seoul Wallet users will be able to use the integrated app simply by resetting their PIN. Seoul Citizen Card users can retain their existing benefits by agreeing to the data transfer by the end of this year. The existing Seoul Citizen Card app is scheduled to be discontinued at the end of December this year.

The name of the integrated app will be decided through a public contest. From July 9 to July 25, citizens can participate via the Seoul City M Voting website, and 100 participants with outstanding suggestions will receive coffee coupons through a drawing.

Kang Okhyun, Director of Seoul City's Digital Urban Bureau, stated, "The integration of Seoul Wallet and Seoul Citizen Card marks the starting point of digital administration that aims to become more closely embedded in citizens' daily lives. We will continue to expand citizen-centered, customized digital administrative services to make life in Seoul even smarter."
