Hoseo University to Host "2nd K-Food Product Development Contest" ... Discovering Youth Entrepreneurship Ideas

Hoseo University announced on July 8 that it will host the "2nd K-Food Product Development Contest and Club Expo" at the Kang Seokgyu Education Center on the Asan Campus on July 25.

This event is designed for high school and university students nationwide, with the goal of discovering youth entrepreneurship ideas and fostering talent for the K-Food industry.

Students will compete by presenting creative product ideas and business planning skills based on processed foods.

In the high school division, participants will be evaluated on creativity and problem-solving skills, focusing on their project proposals. In the university division, participants will be assessed on practical abilities through prototype production and presentations.

The preliminary round will be conducted online, with business plans to be submitted by July 11. Afterward, 12 teams from the high school division and 15 teams from the university division will advance to the finals.

The finals will take place on July 25 at the Asan Campus. Notably, the high school finalists will also be provided with a professional mentoring program.

Awards for winners include the Minister of Food and Drug Safety Award, the Administrator of the Rural Development Administration Award, the Governor of Chungnam Province Award, the Chairman of the Chungnam Provincial Council Award, and the Superintendent of Chungnam Office of Education Award. In addition, there will be special corporate-linked awards such as the Head of Pulmuone Technology Institute Award and the Global Jongga Innovation Award (Jongga).

High school division winners will also be eligible for scholarships upon admission to the Department of Food Engineering at Hoseo University.

Chae Heejung, Director of Planning, stated, "This competition is an example of expanding the IC-PBL model, which connects our Department of Food Engineering's graduation exhibition and PBL education with external partners. It is significant as an open educational platform where universities and companies jointly participate in the curriculum, and students tackle real-world industrial challenges."
