On July 7 local time, Dongwon Industries announced that a delegation led by Vice Chairman Lee Myungwoo met with President Basiru Diomaye Faye at the Presidential Palace in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. The delegation discussed economic cooperation and mutual growth strategies with the Senegalese government.

Dongwon began its full-scale entry into Senegal in 2011 by acquiring the tuna processing company S.C.A SA and the seafood company CAPSEN. Currently, S.C.A SA processes about 30,000 tons of tuna annually, exporting to the United States and Europe. Dongwon has invested a cumulative total of approximately 26 billion KRW in the local market and has employed more than 1,700 staff members across the two companies. This meeting was made possible as President Basiru Diomaye Faye recognized these contributions.

In particular, S.C.A SA has received positive feedback locally for its management approach that incorporates the Korean concept of 'Jeong' (affection and community spirit). The company supports employees' weddings and first birthday parties, operates prayer rooms for different religions and commuter buses, and holds in-house soccer tournaments as part of its 'One S.C.A SA (We Are One Family)' policy. This culture has led to the company being known as "the most desirable place to work."

A Dongwon Group representative stated, "Thanks to the combination of Dongwon's DNA and Korean sentiments, S.C.A SA has established itself as a national company in Senegal. We plan to increase employment to 2,500 people and production to 60,000 tons, continuing to play a role in private diplomacy between the two countries."

Meanwhile, President Basiru Diomaye Faye, born in 1980, became the first opposition candidate to be elected president since Senegal's independence, winning the election in April last year.
