Seven Eleven to Launch Low-Calorie Draft Beer "Saeng Light Beer" on July 9

Low-calorie Beer Grows 80% Compared to Two Years Ago
45% Fewer Calories Than Saeng Draft Beer

Seven Eleven announced that, with the arrival of the summer season, it will launch Saeng Light Beer, the first low-calorie draft beer in Korea, on July 9. The new product targets the "healthy drinking" demographic?those who want to enjoy alcohol but are also mindful of their weight and health.

Recently, consumer interest in "low-calorie" options has been steadily increasing, leading to greater demand for low-calorie beers, low-sugar desserts, and zero-calorie beverages. According to Seven Eleven, sales of low-calorie beer in the first half of this year rose by 60% compared to the same period last year, and by approximately 80% compared to 2023.

In response to the growing number of "healthy drinking" consumers who want to drink more responsibly, Seven Eleven has introduced Saeng Light Beer. Compared to Saeng Draft Beer, the convenience store draft beer product launched last year, Saeng Light Beer has 45% fewer calories.

To maximize freshness, Saeng Light Beer is produced and distributed using a complete cold chain system throughout every stage. To dispel the stereotype that light beer is watery, the company enhanced the beer's flavor by using premium hops from Germany and the United States.

Saeng Light Beer combines low calories with zero sugar, making it easy to enjoy without guilt. With an alcohol content of 3.8%, it is suitable for light drinking.

To celebrate the launch of Saeng Light Beer, Seven Eleven is also running ongoing promotions. Customers can purchase four cans of Seven Eleven's draft beer products?Saeng Draft Beer, Saeng Strong Beer, and Saeng Light Beer?for 13,000 won, a 35% discount.

Various other beer promotions are also being offered. Until July 31, Seven Eleven is providing an average 20% base discount, plus an additional 20% partnership discount, on 36 domestic and international bundled beer products, including Crush 355ml, Asahi Draft Beer 340ml, and Heineken 500ml. The "Beer Light" non-alcoholic beer event is also taking place. Every Monday through Thursday in July, up to 50% discounts are available on six bundles of non-alcoholic beers, including Cass and Kloud.

Nam Gunwoo, the beer MD of Seven Eleven's beverage and liquor team, said, "As the trend of enjoying drinking in a healthier way continues, the market for health-oriented beers, such as low-calorie and non-alcoholic options, is steadily growing. Low-calorie beer has now become a necessity, not a choice, for most beer brands."
