"Cool Summer with History": Uiseong Jomunguk Museum Water Playground Opens

A Multi-Cultural Space Combining Experience and Learning Draws Attention

Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk has officially opened a multi-cultural experiential water playground to help residents and visitors cool off during the summer heat, drawing attention as a new local tourist attraction.

"Cool Summer with History": Uiseong Jomunguk Museum Water Playground Opens Opening of the Water Playground at Jomunguk Museum in Uiseong County, Gyeongbuk.

Uiseong County announced that the water playground inside Jomunguk Museum opened on July 4 and will operate until August 17.

This year, the water playground goes beyond a simple water feature, offering experiential content that combines history, play, and learning. It is expected to provide families with special summer memories.

The water playground, covering a total area of about 1,300 square meters, features unique water play facilities inspired by the historical stories of Jomunguk, including a Giant Tree, a Royal Tomb Excavation Play Wall, an Artifact Excavation Fountain, a Gilt-bronze Crown Bench Fountain, and a Tunnel Fountain.

All facilities are designed with educational value tailored to children, allowing visitors to naturally experience the identity of Uiseong, a city of historical sites.

In addition, during the operation period, a special museum-linked experiential event titled "The Museum is Alive" will be held. The event will take place three times: on July 12, July 26, and August 9. On the final day, a Water Bomb event featuring a child DJ is planned, promising to further energize the atmosphere of the water playground.

The water playground will be closed on Mondays, which are the museum's regular holidays, and may also close temporarily in case of rain depending on weather conditions. Admission fees are 3,000 won for children aged 3 to 13 (1,500 won for Uiseong residents) and 5,000 won for teenagers and adults (2,500 won for residents), with discounts offered to local residents.

Kim Jusu, the governor of Uiseong County, stated, "The Jomunguk Museum water playground has become a beloved summer destination for children and families every year. We will continue to manage it as the safest and cleanest water playground in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, not only as a play space but also as a place where visitors can experience the region's history and culture with all their senses."

Meanwhile, Jomunguk Museum, which exhibits artifacts from the ancient Iron Age and the Samhan period, is a leading local museum highlighting the brilliant ancient history of Uiseong. It is expanding its role as a cultural experience and tourism destination in connection with the summer water playground.
