The "Traditional Cooking Class for Multicultural Families" is part of Yangsan City's gender equality support project. The Yangsan Branch of the Korean Women's Association has signed an agreement with the Yangsan City Family Center (Director Kim Deokhan) to provide education on traditional Korean cuisine for marriage migrant women. This program has been running for six years as of this year.
The opening ceremony was attended by more than 20 women who had immigrated from nine countries, including Vietnam and Thailand. Together with members of the Yangsan Branch of the Korean Women's Association, they created and shared traditional Korean dishes in a joyful and friendly atmosphere.
Lee Seongmi, Director of the Women and Youth Division, said, "Through this cooking class, I hope that marriage migrant women will understand and naturally embrace our culture, and become members of our society."
