On July 7, Jeollanam-do appointed nine individuals as promotional ambassadors for the 2025 Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo, including Monk Jung Kwan, Jung Jiseon, Oh Seduk, Lim Heewon, Hong Shinae, Matsuda, Hibab, Ahn Sunghoon, and Kang Hyeyeon.
At the appointment ceremony held at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Government that day, Governor Kim Youngrok and key officials attended to congratulate the new ambassadors and pledged to collaborate in widely promoting the rich culinary assets and value of Namdo cuisine.
The promotional ambassadors include Monk Jung Kwan, a master of temple cuisine and recipient of the James Beard Award, often referred to as the Academy Award of the culinary world; Matsuda, a gourmet enthusiast; Hibab, a mukbang icon in Korea; Oh Seduk and Jung Jiseon, the leading chefs of Heukbaek Chef; Lim Heewon, a Korean cuisine chef; Hong Shinae, a culinary researcher; Ahn Sunghoon, winner of Mister Trot 2; and Kang Hyeyeon, the "Miss Trot Fairy."
Going forward, these ambassadors will take the lead in promoting the excellence and appeal of Namdo cuisine to the world by collaborating in various areas such as domestic and international promotional activities, participation in major expo programs, and content creation.
The 2025 Namdo International Gourmet Industry Expo is the first government-approved international gourmet-themed event in Korea, aimed at preserving and developing Namdo's culinary culture, which is known for its pure ingredients and heartfelt preparation. It will be held in Mokpo and surrounding areas from October 1 to 26.
Under the slogan "Taste Nature, Taste the Sea," the expo will feature a variety of programs, including five major global events such as the ASEAN Pavilion, four major competitions such as the K-FOOD international contest "Global Hidden Masters," three major related events including the Namdo Liquor Festa, and five major business programs such as export consultation meetings with KOTRA and the Overseas Koreans Agency.
Governor Kim Youngrok emphasized, "The role of the promotional ambassadors is extremely important for the successful hosting of the expo. I hope that, as culinary experts, you will widely promote the appeal of Namdo cuisine to the world through interesting and diverse content."
