Jeon Eunhye Pledges to Build a More Mature Local Council
The Gwangjin District Council in Seoul (Chairperson Jeon Eunhye) announced on July 7 that it held a ceremony on July 4 to mark the opening of its new office building. This ceremony was the first official event held since the council moved to the new office in May, and it was organized as an occasion to pledge a new leap forward for the council and to strengthen communication with residents.

The Gwangjin District Council previously moved from a leased office in Guui-dong to the Neungdong-ro office in February 2005. After 20 years, in May of this year, the council relocated to its current integrated office building at Guui Station. Notably, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Gwangjin District Council, making the move to the new office even more significant.
The ceremony was attended by Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, former and current council chairpersons, current and former district council members, Seoul Metropolitan Council members, and members of the Council of Former Members.
In his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Kim Kyungho stated, "The era of the new integrated office, which brings the council and the district office physically closer together, is expected to serve as an important starting point for greater communication and cooperation for the happiness of our residents."
In her commemorative speech, Chairperson Jeon Eunhye emphasized, "Moving to the new office is not simply a change of space, but a meaningful turning point to realize an open council and communicate more closely with the residents of Gwangjin District." She added, "Going forward, I will continue to work with the district office and my fellow and senior council members to build a more mature local council for the happiness of our residents and the development of Gwangjin."
Meanwhile, from July 4 to July 17, the Gwangjin District Council plans to hold its first regular session of 2025 to deliberate on major agenda items, including the first supplementary budget bill and the approval of the 2024 fiscal year settlement.
