First in Seoul, Targeting 2,500 Local Businesses
Dobong District in Seoul will become the first district in the city to provide telecommunications subsidies to small business owners in the restaurant industry.
The support is available to approximately 2,500 small restaurant businesses in Dobong District that have held a business registration for at least three months and have completed food hygiene education. In consideration of eligibility, franchise businesses and those that are temporarily or permanently closed are excluded. The maximum subsidy amount is 90,000 won, calculated as 30,000 won per month for up to three months.
The district plans to send application guidelines to small business owners around August, with applications and submissions to be accepted in September and October. The subsidies will be distributed after November.
A district official stated, "This telecommunications subsidy is one of several measures to help stabilize the management of small businesses," adding, "We expect that this support will not only help offset costs but also serve as an opportunity to expand the digital foundation for activities such as mobile marketing and delivery platforms."
This support is expected to provide practical assistance to self-employed individuals who are developing sales channels through smartphone-based promotion and reservation systems. Previously, the district submitted this plan in the first supplementary budget and secured approximately 230 million won in funding following approval by the district council. Depending on the results of the program, the district plans to allocate a support budget in next year’s main budget as well.
Oh Unseok, Mayor of Dobong District, said, "We hope this support, prepared as a practical measure for small business owners, will be of help," and added, "We will continue to focus our efforts on implementing policies to support the livelihoods of local residents."
