Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Donates "A Happy Sharing of One Meal" to Support Children from Low-Income Families

Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital recently announced on July 7 that its employees delivered a donation of approximately 51.4 million won to the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Jeonnam regional headquarters as part of the regular donation campaign "A Happy Sharing of One Meal," aimed at supporting local children from low-income families.

This year, 24 hospital employees newly joined the campaign, bringing the total number of supporters to 391. The donated funds will be used to support living expenses, educational costs, and medical expenses for children from low-income families in the Jeonnam region, including patients of Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital.

The fundraising activity, which began with hospital employees saving the cost of one meal, marks its 16th year in 2025. The cumulative amount of donations has exceeded 558 million won.

Notably, this year, the Anesthesia Management Office and Ward 63 participated as new regular donor departments with three or more members, and received a "Sharing Plaque" from the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation. The Sharing Plaque is a meaningful symbol that encourages voluntary departmental participation in donations and helps spread a culture of sharing within the hospital.

"A Happy Sharing of One Meal" is an employee-participation donation campaign that began in 2009 when Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital signed an agreement with the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Jeonnam regional headquarters. Hospital employees voluntarily participate to regularly sponsor 20 to 30 children each year, and contribute to child welfare through various means such as emergency support and scholarships.

Kim Yuseong, head of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Jeonnam regional headquarters, said, "I am grateful to the hospital and its employees for their steady support over the past 16 years," and added, "I hope that 'A Sharing of One Meal' will continue to serve as a warm bridge connecting the hospital and children."

Min Jungjun, director of the hospital, stated, "I hope that this small action, with each and every employee participating, will become a strong support for the healthy growth of local children," and added, "We will continue to fulfill our role as a warm-hearted medical institution that grows together with the local community."
