On July 6 (local time), at Carton House in Leinster, Ireland (par 73, 6,337 yards), Ward carded six birdies and two bogeys for a 4-under-par 69 in the final round of the KPMG Women's Island Open (total prize money: 450,000 euros), finishing with a dominant victory by six strokes at 21-under-par 271. She became the first amateur in three years to win an LET event since Jana Melichova of the Czech Republic at the 2022 Czech Ladies Open.
Born in 2004, Ward is currently the top-ranked amateur women's golfer in the world. She won the Augusta National Women's Amateur last year and finished tied for 10th at the AIG Women's Open, a major championship, in 2024.
Madelene Sagstrom of Sweden finished second with a score of 15-under-par 277. As an amateur, Ward was not eligible to receive prize money, so the winner's prize of 67,500 euros (approximately 100 million won) went to Sagstrom. Amelia Garvey of New Zealand finished third at 14-under-par 278, Charley Hull of England was fourth at 12-under-par 280, and Anna Nordqvist of Sweden tied for 29th at 4-under-par 288.
