Democratic Party Supreme Council Meeting on the 7th
Kim Byungki, acting leader and floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged the prosecution to "apologize to the public for all the orchestrated, targeted, and fabricated investigations carried out under the Yoon Suk Yeol prosecution republic."
At the Supreme Council meeting of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 7th, Acting Leader Kim stated, "I propose the establishment of an independent body to thoroughly uncover the details of the fabricated investigations." He added, "Prosecution reform is a stern mandate from the sovereign people."
Acting Leader Kim said, "Political prosecutors conducted blatant politically motivated investigations against Lee Jaemyung, then leader of the Democratic Party, and opposition politicians. Through indiscriminate political indictments and raids, they caused great suffering, and this suffering continues to this day."
He continued, "The Democratic Party will ensure prosecution reform is fully achieved to create a prosecution that serves the people, not politics or any administration. We promise to swiftly implement the complete separation of investigation and indictment functions, establish effective checks on prosecutorial power, and institutionalize political neutrality."
On the morning of the same day, the Democratic Party launched a task force (TF) on fabricated indictments by political prosecutors, led by Supreme Council member Han Junho. The TF will investigate the truth behind cases involving indictments against President Lee, such as the North Korea remittance allegations and the Daejang-dong case, viewing these as politically motivated indictments by the prosecution.
Meanwhile, Acting Leader Kim referred to the first high-level party-government consultation held the previous day, stating, "We are making an all-out effort to accelerate the recovery of the people's livelihood and the economy."
He noted, "On the 4th, the supplementary budget passed; on the 5th, the Cabinet approved the supplementary budget; and on the 6th, we reviewed the execution plan." He added, "We will implement the supplementary budget diligently and ensure that no important blind spots are overlooked, matching our swift pace."
He further stated, "To support the stability of the Lee Jaemyung administration, we will act without hesitation on any matter that can be addressed immediately and that the people deem necessary, regardless of timing or conditions."
