Busan Transportation Corporation and Pokemon Korea Collaboration
Experience Special Content at Six Major Stations for the 40th Anniversary
Busan Metro is launching a hands-on marketing campaign in collaboration with the popular cross-generational content 'Pokemon' to mark the summer vacation season.
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) announced that, for the first time among national railway organizations, it will partner with Pokemon Korea to host a special event titled 'Pokemon Subway Stamp Rally in Busan Metamong's Summer Vacation' at major metro stations from July 25 to August 17, for a period of one month.
This event has been organized to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the metro's opening. Through this collaboration with Pokemon, the corporation aims to transform the subway from a simple means of transportation into a platform for cultural and tourism content, thereby encouraging increased use by both citizens and tourists.
The event will take place at six major stations adjacent to Busan's key tourist attractions: Busan Station, Beomnaegol Station, Jeonpo Station, Gwangan Station, Sports Complex Station, and Gupo Station. At these stations, a variety of content will be available simultaneously, including the Pokemon Stamp Rally, specially designed QR tickets, capsule toy vending machines, photo zones, and a wrapping train.
In particular, the 'limited edition QR tickets' featuring popular Pokemon such as Pikachu will be available for purchase starting July 18, ahead of the event. There are six different designs, each unique to a station, adding to the fun of collecting. The tickets can be purchased at station vending machines or at on-site booths, with 100,000 tickets available per design, totaling 600,000 tickets to be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
The core of the event is the Stamp Rally. Participants who collect stamps at all six stations can receive a 'Metamong Sun Cap' or a 'Pikachu Metamong Sun Cap', and those who complete the entire rally will also receive a 'QR Ticket Holder' and a 'Clear File'. Prizes can be collected at the Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch.
Lee Byungjin, President of Busan Transportation Corporation, stated, "We hope that families and couples visiting during the summer vacation will enjoy a unique experience on the subway," adding, "Through our collaboration with the globally popular character Pokemon, we will continue to expand our cultural experience-based transportation platform for both citizens and tourists."
