On July 7, Namyangju City announced plans to create a neighborhood park in the Hwanggeumsan area that will feature nature-friendly experiential facilities, including a public campground, an ecological forest, a loess barefoot trail, and a nature learning center.

The goal of this project is to renovate the Hwanggeumsan area and turn it into a resident-friendly public space where all citizens can experience nature and enjoy leisure activities in their daily lives.

Hwanggeumsan covers a total area of 574,000 square meters and is located adjacent to large urban districts such as Dasanjigeum District and Gaun District, offering excellent accessibility. Previously, the city established a cultural park of approximately 49,000 square meters at 115 Jigeum-dong and completed the maintenance of walking trails in the area.

In this project, the city will utilize 151,000 square meters of previously underutilized and damaged land in Hwanggeumsan to further develop the park. The plan includes the addition of experiential spaces such as a public campground, an ecological forest, a loess barefoot trail, and a nature learning center.

This initiative is being carried out as part of the alternative green space creation project associated with the 'Yangjeong Station Area Urban Development Project.' The main objectives are to restore green spaces reduced by urban development, to conserve forests, and to create a sustainable urban environment that meets the leisure needs of citizens.

Following the decision on the urban management plan in the second half of this year, the city will establish a park development plan, obtain approval for the implementation plan, and proceed with land compensation procedures, aiming for completion in 2029.

Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "The core of this plan is to create a nature-friendly space within the city that citizens can enjoy," adding, "We will actively incorporate citizens' opinions throughout the administrative process to ensure the creation of a distinctive park that meets the needs of the community."
