The 'Yanggui-ri (Heukseokgogae) Alignment Improvement Project,' which improves the alignment of the Heukseokgogae section of Local Route 84 connecting Simseok-ri and Yanggui-ri in Ganam-eup, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi Province, has been completed ahead of schedule.
This section had a steep gradient, causing significant inconvenience for vehicles, including trucks that would often stop on the uphill, not only in winter but also during normal times. Gyeonggi Province invested a total of 7.2 billion KRW (including compensation costs) to improve a 0.92 km stretch of road.
The original 7-meter-wide road has been expanded to 10 meters, and new uphill and downhill lanes have been added to enhance convenience and safety for drivers. In particular, the road elevation was lowered by 3.6 meters to reduce the steep gradient, greatly improving driving conditions.
Gyeonggi Province explained that, initially, to minimize inconvenience to residents during construction, it planned to operate traffic in both directions by dividing the section into three phases. However, by switching to a one-way traffic system, the construction period was shortened.

In addition, the province coordinated with relevant agencies such as Yeoju Police Station and Yeoju City, and gained cooperation from local residents and businesspeople through continuous communication and promotion, including explaining the necessity of implementing one-way traffic.
The project was completed in one year and four months after commencement. Completion was achieved two months earlier than the originally scheduled date of September 2025, resulting in a reduction of 120 million KRW in construction management costs.
Cha Kyunghwan, Director of the Construction Headquarters of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Thanks to the deep understanding and cooperation of local residents and businesspeople, we were able to complete the Yanggui-ri Heukseokgogae alignment improvement project ahead of schedule. We will continue to steadily promote road expansion and paving projects to provide residents with a safe and pleasant road environment."
