On July 6, the special prosecutor team led by Cho Eunseok, which is investigating the rebellion and treason case related to the 12·3 Martial Law, requested an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Seokyeol.
Special Prosecutor Park Jiyoung announced at a briefing that day, "We have requested an arrest warrant for former President Yoon."
The special prosecutor's team filed the warrant request with the Seoul Central District Court.
Former President Yoon faces charges including obstruction of special official duties, violation of the Presidential Security Act, abuse of authority obstructing the exercise of rights, and falsification of official documents.
However, the charge of treason related to allegedly ordering the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles from the Army Drone Operations Command to Pyongyang to justify the declaration of martial law was excluded from the arrest warrant.
Special Prosecutor Park explained, "The treason charge is still under investigation, and there is a significant amount of inquiry remaining, so it was not included in the criminal facts."
