KT Selects Air Force 15th Special Missions Wing and Firefighter Kim Manha for "Hope Sharing Award" Air Force 15th Special Missions Wing

On July 6, the KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation announced that it has selected the Air Force 15th Special Missions Wing, which has continuously engaged in sharing activities while protecting the lives and safety of the public, and Kim Manha, a firefighter from Gangneung Fire Station (age 58), as joint recipients of the second Hope Sharing Award of the year.

The 15th Special Missions Wing has operated an educational volunteer club for over 10 years, dedicated to supporting adolescents from low-income families, single-parent households, and families with disabilities. Every Tuesday, soldiers belonging to the club conduct one-on-one learning mentoring at the Saegok-dong Community Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, in cooperation with the Saegok Nanum Scholarship Association.

The soldiers transform into "military teachers," providing guidance in basic subjects, offering entrance exam strategies, and delivering career counseling to help students.

Since its launch in 2012 in partnership with the Gangnam-gu Office, the educational volunteer club of the 15th Special Missions Wing has accumulated a total of 1,780 volunteer hours.

In addition, Kim Manha, a firefighter from Gangneung Fire Station in Gangwon Province and joint recipient of this year's Hope Sharing Award, has participated in more than 2,100 volunteer activities over approximately 20 years, contributing over 10,000 hours of service. During the same period, he has also practiced daily sharing by donating a fixed amount every month.

Since 2013, Kim has been volunteering with the "Love Food Truck" group, providing free meals to underprivileged individuals every Tuesday on his day off. From 2006 to 2015, he was a member of the Gangneung Family Volunteer Group "Sesalbeoreut Team," regularly visiting elderly people living alone, orphanages, nursing homes, and facilities for people with disabilities, where he assisted with bathing, cleaning, companionship, and daily living support.

Oh Taesung, Chairman of the KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation, stated, "We will continue to seek out those who spread hope throughout our society and work together to create a warmer community."

The "Hope Sharing Award" was established by the KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation to encourage individuals and organizations who contribute to the creation of social value through sharing, and to promote the value of sharing itself. Nominations for the Hope Sharing Award, along with stories of good deeds, are accepted year-round through the KT Group Hope Sharing Foundation website.
