First High-Level Party-Government Council of Lee Administration: "Party and Government Are One, a Community for Overcoming Insurrection and Economic Recovery"

On July 6, Prime Minister Kim Minseok stated, "The party, the government, and the presidential office are united as one," adding, "We are a community of shared destiny that upholds the philosophy of party member sovereignty and popular sovereignty, as well as a shared vision for overcoming insurrection and achieving economic recovery and growth."

During his opening remarks at the first High-Level Party-Government Council of the Lee Jaemyung administration, held that afternoon at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Kim said, "It is meaningful to participate in the party-government council of the Lee Jaemyung administration, which was born out of the Revolution of Light." He emphasized, "The High-Level Party-Government Council will serve as a space for coordinating national policy tasks and achieving results under the leadership of the president."

Regarding the agenda for the meeting, he introduced, "We plan to first discuss measures to swiftly maximize the effectiveness of the supplementary budget and support for people's livelihoods, as well as thorough countermeasures against summer disasters such as heat waves."

He said, "After the COVID-19 pandemic, the insurrection has caused suffering for the socially vulnerable, and the damage from heat waves is also concentrated among the economically disadvantaged." He continued, "Today, I am wearing a tie with a sheep, symbolizing the socially vulnerable, as a reminder that we must not overlook even a single vulnerable person. This mindset, determination, and dedication form the foundation and entirety of the Lee Jaemyung administration's governance."

Prime Minister Kim added, "There was no transition committee, and we had no time to rehearse. The formation of the cabinet is only just beginning, but there is no alternative to successful governance if we are to save the country." He urged, "I hope the party and the government will unite and give their all with the determination to save the nation and its people."

Kim Byunggi, Acting Representative and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party, stated, "In order to stimulate consumption and support income before the main vacation season, it is essential to implement measures such as livelihood recovery consumption coupons. I once again request swift execution."

Kang Hunsik, Chief of Staff to the President, said, "The urgent task of improving people's livelihoods lies before the ruling party, the cabinet, and the presidential office." He continued, "The president is prioritizing the recovery of the collapsed economy and revitalization of the people's livelihoods, listening closely to the voices of the people while working to find solutions."

He added, "I would like to ask the government not only to revive the people's livelihoods and the economy, but also to restore the government's fundamental role in protecting the lives and safety of the people, which was undermined by the previous administration." He went on, "The Presidential Secretariat will strive to communicate and deliver the president's philosophy of governance?especially the messages of economic recovery and social integration?to both the party and the government."
