Around 10,000 Citizens and Sports Enthusiasts Participate in 39 Sports Categories
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam successfully held the 2025 Citizen Harmony One Heart Sports Festival.
The event, which took place from July 5 to 6, was hosted by the Changwon Sports Council, organized by Changwon member sports organizations, and sponsored by Changwon Special City. Around 10,000 citizens and sports enthusiasts participated, competing fiercely in a total of 39 sports categories and showcasing the skills they had honed over time.
The opening ceremony featured a pre-event performance by a trot singer and the LG Sakers cheerleading squad. The official program included the entrance of the flag-bearing team, commendations for distinguished contributors, congratulatory speeches from guests, an athlete's oath, and a runway performance, all of which received enthusiastic responses from attendees.
With daytime temperatures rising each day, outdoor events were held only in the morning. Both indoor and outdoor venues were well-stocked with bottled water, and emergency medical teams were on standby at all times to ensure safety. In addition, the city strengthened its cooperation system with related organizations to respond quickly to any inconveniences caused by the heat.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "I congratulate everyone on the 12th Citizen Harmony One Heart Sports Festival. I hope this event will serve as an opportunity to promote health and friendship, prioritizing harmony over competition in the true spirit of community sports." He added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that the event concludes safely without a single accident by thoroughly adhering to safety regulations, even amid the ongoing heat wave."
