DPK: Supplementary Budget to Prime Livelihood Recovery... Will Create a Virtuous Economic Cycle

"Regret Over People Power Party's Refusal to Process Supplementary Budget"

The Democratic Party of Korea welcomed the first supplementary budget of the Lee Jaemyung administration, calling it a "priming water for the recovery of people's livelihoods."

On July 5, Democratic Party spokesperson Baek Seunga stated in a written briefing, "The supplementary budget of 31.8 trillion won, which was deliberated by the National Assembly, will serve as a priming water for the recovery of people's livelihoods at a time when the public is standing at the edge of a cliff." She added, "In particular, the 12.2 trillion won allocated for livelihood recovery support is expected to revitalize domestic consumption and local economies, thereby creating a virtuous cycle in the economy."

She continued, "The Democratic Party worked to accelerate the review process with the firm belief that we must save the people's economy, which is on the verge of collapse, through the swift execution of the supplementary budget. However, the People Power Party did not show up until the very end," expressing regret that "the People Power Party refused to process the supplementary budget for the recovery of people's livelihoods."

Spokesperson Baek emphasized, "The Democratic Party will never forget, even for a moment, that we are the ruling party with unlimited responsibility to the people, and we will continue to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to us by the public."

Floor leader Kim Byungki wrote on Facebook, "This supplementary budget represents the strong will of the Lee Jaemyung administration and the Democratic Party, and is a pledge to take the lead in the recovery of the people's economy with one mind."

He added, "What matters is from now on. The supplementary budget must be executed quickly," and pledged, "As the ruling party, the Democratic Party will ensure that the supplementary budget produces its intended effects with greater responsibility and will make necessary improvements."
