'Musk, Breaking with Trump, Launches Independence Day Poll on New Party Formation'

Musk Proposes New Party, Criticizes Trump
"We Will Secure Minority Seats to Break the Two-Party Monopoly"

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has declared a political break with President Donald Trump and hinted at his intention to launch a new political party. On July 4, Independence Day (local time), Musk openly expressed his opposition to the two-party system in the United States and publicly announced his intention to establish the "America Party."

On this day, Musk posted on social media platform X, "Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want to declare independence from the two-party (some would say one-party) system!" He added, "Should we start the America Party?" and launched an online poll asking users to vote for or against the idea.

He further explained, "One way to do this would be to focus on 2 to 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House districts," adding, "Given the very slim margins, this would be enough to cast decisive votes on contentious bills and ensure that the true will of the people is reflected."

Essentially, this is a strategy to create a third force in Washington's political landscape, which is currently dominated by the Republican and Democratic parties, and to wield influence in Congress as a 'casting vote.'

On the same day, Musk made his differences clear by criticizing President Trump's proposed large-scale tax cut package. He pointed out the problems of the bill by referring to it as the "Debt Enslavement Act." Despite concerns over fiscal soundness, the bill, which Trump praised as the "One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA)," passed the House with bipartisan support.

After announcing his intention to form a new party, Musk also posted an article generated by "Grok," the chatbot developed by his AI company xAI. The article emphasized the role of the America Party, stating, "The America Party is not just a pipe dream. Musk will hold a handful of Senate seats and House districts, exercising the swing vote to ensure that laws truly serve real people."

He also expressed his full support by sharing a post by conservative Senator Rand Paul criticizing the OBBBA bill, adding a "100 points" emoji. Senator Paul remarked, "The not-so-beautiful big bill has officially passed both chambers," and criticized it as "a classic political calculation that worsens the short-term deficit and ignores long-term sustainability."

Since the end of last month, Musk has been openly criticizing lawmakers who supported the OBBBA bill, warning that he would campaign against them in future elections. In particular, his comment that "they should be ashamed and hang their heads" caused considerable controversy both inside and outside political circles.

During last year's presidential election, Musk expanded his influence by supporting the Trump campaign and took charge of the "Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)," leading federal government reform for 130 days. However, he is now actively distancing himself from the Trump administration.

In response, President Trump has hinted at reducing subsidies for companies led by Musk as a form of pressure. When recently asked by reporters whether he was considering deporting Musk to South Africa, Trump replied, "We'll look into the possibility," suggesting that the political conflict could intensify further.
