The National Intangible Heritage Center announced on July 7, 2025, that it will hold the exhibition "The World of Lotus Patterns and Dancheong, Seokun Hong Jeomseok" at the Permanent Exhibition Hall on the first floor of the Open Maru from July 8 to September 7.

Hong was born in 1939 and passed away in 2024. He was recognized as a holder of the national intangible heritage title of Dancheongjang, dedicating his life to the preservation and transmission of Dancheong.

The exhibition will showcase a large number of his representative works, including "Blue Dragon and White Tiger Dancheong Patterns," "Daeryangcho Dancheong Patterns," "Golden Dancheong Hyunmu Painting," and a reproduction of the Dancheong at Tongdosa Temple in Yangsan. The exhibition will also shed light on his life as a Dancheongjang through items such as his certificate of recognition, a list of Dancheong projects, and his work clothes.

Hong developed an interest in Buddhist art as a child while visiting hermitages. In 1969, he joined the Dancheong Pattern Research Team of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, honing his skills as an artisan. His talent was recognized, and in 1997, at nearly sixty years old, he was officially acknowledged as a holder of the Dancheongjang title.

Admission is free, and the exhibition is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The venue is closed every Monday.
