Jeong Kimyeong, mayor of Yeosu, threw the ceremonial first pitch at the KIA Tigers vs. SSG game held at Gwangju Kia Champions Field on July 3.
Mayor Jeong visited the professional baseball stadium to promote the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo. The ceremonial first pitch was broadcast live nationwide on the sports channel SPOTV2. After the pitch, Mayor Jeong watched the professional baseball game with officials.
Meanwhile, Yeosu City prepared a promotional space inside the stadium to promote Yeosu tourism and the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo. A promotional team of about 70 people, including Mayor Jeong and city hall employees, actively promoted major attractions, tourism content, and the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo to spectators at the stadium, distributing promotional materials and providing information.
Mayor Jeong said, "The 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, the world's first expo to spotlight islands, will be held in Yeosu, a city with breathtaking natural scenery, diverse attractions, delicious food, and plenty of activities. I hope many people will take an interest in and visit Yeosu, Korea's leading marine tourism city."
