169 Out of 208 Towns and Neighborhoods in the Province Have Resident Autonomy Associations... Nearly Twice the National Average
Chungnam Holds Resident Autonomy Festival on July 4, Sharing Achievements from 15 Cities and Counties

On July 4, Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, stated regarding the Resident Autonomy Association in Chungnam, "I look forward to even greater activities from the Resident Autonomy Association so that 'Powerful Chungnam' can continue to unite the strength of our residents and lead Korea. I promise the fullest support possible."
Governor Kim emphasized this point while attending the '2025 Chungcheongnam-do Resident Autonomy Festival' held at the Taean County General Indoor Gymnasium on the same day.
As of the end of last month, 169 out of 208 towns, townships, and neighborhoods (81%) in Chungnam Province have been converted to Resident Autonomy Associations, ranking first among all provinces nationwide. This figure is nearly double the national average of 45.2%.
Governor Kim said, "Currently, Chungnam is moving toward a government budget of 12.3 trillion won and 45 trillion won in corporate investment attraction for next year. All these achievements are the result of the participation, cooperation, determination, and resolve of our 2.2 million residents."
About 1,000 people, including Governor Kim, Taean County Mayor Ga Sero, resident autonomy committee members, and local residents, attended the event. At the event, Chungnam Province and its 15 cities and counties shared the achievements of their local Resident Autonomy Associations.
The event proceeded in the following order: a ceremonial event, presentations and performances of outstanding cases, a communication concert, and a performance by a celebratory singer.
During the presentations of outstanding policy cases, the achievements of the Resident Autonomy Associations in Gwangseok-myeon of Nonsan, Iwon-myeon of Taean, Junghak-dong of Gongju, Unsan-myeon of Seosan, and Sinan-dong of Cheonan were shared.
Additionally, at the Resident Autonomy Communication Concert, Kim Hoyong, President of the Seosan City Resident Autonomy Council, and Jang Changseok, senior researcher at the Chungnam Institute, participated as panelists and engaged directly with the audience on the topic of resident autonomy.
