Gwangju Seo-gu Opens "Sustainable Development Leaders School"

According to Seo-gu, this program was established to increase residents' understanding of Seo-gu's vision and goals for sustainable development, as well as domestic and international best practices, so that all generations can enjoy a better quality of life through balance and harmony in the economic, social, and environmental spheres.

The program, which has 40 participants, will be conducted in a total of four sessions through July 18. Lectures will be delivered by experts in various fields, including general theory and governance, economy and society, and the environment.

Students who complete the required lecture hours will receive credits in the Citizen Participation Department of Saekundae (the largest university in the world, Seo-gu). Among them, some will serve as instructors at the "Mobile Sustainable Development School" to be held in September.

Meanwhile, Seo-gu plans to hold the "Sustainable Development Resident Participation Workshop" on the 22nd to gather residents' opinions and build consensus. The district will also operate a dedicated public-private cooperation team and prepare a sustainable development report in the second half of the year.

Kim Ikang, head of Seo-gu Office, stated, "Sustainable development must be practiced in daily life before it is established as policy. Going forward, we will continue to expand practical, community-based education in which local residents become instructors themselves and learn and practice together with their neighbors."
