A suspected case of mass food poisoning has occurred at an elementary school in Buk-gu, Gwangju. After eating school lunch the previous day, both students and teachers began experiencing abdominal pain and diarrhea, prompting health authorities to launch an investigation into the cause.
According to Buk-gu District Office and other sources, a report of suspected mass food poisoning was received at around 10:30 a.m. on July 4, 2025.
The investigation found that two teachers and twenty-one students showed symptoms such as abdominal pain and diarrhea after eating lunch the previous day. Among them, one student is currently hospitalized, and the number of symptomatic individuals may increase.
Health authorities collected environmental samples from kitchen utensils, drinking water, and food ingredients, and requested testing from the Gwangju Institute of Health and Environment. At the same time, an epidemiological investigation is being conducted among those showing symptoms to determine the route of infection.
