Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to experience cloudy weather this weekend under the influence of the North Pacific high pressure, with heat indices around 35 degrees Celsius and tropical nights continuing. Yonhap News

Gwangju and Jeonnam are expected to continue experiencing scorching heat under cloudy skies this weekend. Although the sunlight may be blocked, the heat will remain unavoidable.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, Gwangju and Jeonnam will be situated on the edge of the North Pacific high pressure system located south of Japan, resulting in mostly cloudy but persistently hot and humid weather.

On Saturday, July 5, the morning low will be around 24 degrees Celsius, with daytime highs reaching between 30 and 34 degrees. On Sunday, July 6, the morning low will be about 25 degrees, and the daytime high will be around 35 degrees, showing a similar trend. On both days, the heat index is expected to exceed 33 degrees.

It will also be difficult to escape the heat at night. The heat accumulated during the day will continue into the night, raising the possibility of tropical nights.

An official from the Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "There will be many days when nighttime temperatures exceed 25 degrees, which could lead to sleep disturbances or accumulated fatigue," and advised, "To prevent heat-related illnesses, it is important to stay hydrated frequently and to avoid prolonged farm work or solitary outdoor activities as much as possible."
