Confirmation Hearings for Ministerial Nominees
to Begin in Mid-July
The schedules for National Assembly confirmation hearings for the first ministerial nominees of the Lee Jaemyung administration are being finalized one after another.
On July 4, the National Assembly's Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee; the Environment and Labor Committee; and the Gender Equality and Family Committee each held plenary sessions and adopted plans to conduct confirmation hearings for their respective ministerial nominees.
The Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs and Startups Committee decided to hold a confirmation hearing for Han Seongsook, nominee for Minister of SMEs and Startups, on July 15. The committee resolved to request 1,966 documents and summon two witnesses for the hearing.
The Environment and Labor Committee also decided to hold a confirmation hearing for Kim Seonghwan, nominee for Minister of Environment, on July 15. Previously, the Political Affairs Committee had resolved the day before to hold a confirmation hearing for Kwon Oeul, nominee for Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, on the same day.
The Gender Equality and Family Committee decided to hold a confirmation hearing for Kang Sunwoo, nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, on July 14.
President Lee Jaemyung has completed nominations for ministers in 17 out of 19 ministries, and the schedules for confirmation hearings for the remaining ministerial nominees are also expected to be determined soon.
