On the morning of July 4, during a trial held at the Seoul Western District Court’s Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Park Ji-won), prosecutors asked the court to sentence Yoon (57) to four years in prison on charges including special trespassing of a building.
Prosecutors stated, "He committed the crime out of dissatisfaction with the court’s ruling. Despite many police officers being injured, he has shown no remorse, and both the severity of the crime and his attitude are poor."
Yoon is accused of making statements such as "If you support Yoon Seokyeol, fight with us," during the riot at the Western District Court in January. He is also charged with entering the court grounds, confronting police alongside other demonstrators, and interfering with police duties by pulling on police shields.
During the trial, Yoon claimed that on the day of the incident, he was dragged into the court by another person.
The sentencing for Yoon is scheduled for August 1 at 10:30 a.m.
