Applications Accepted at Administrative Welfare Centers Until the 25th
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province is collecting items from citizens to be placed in a "time capsule" that will record the lives of its residents and the changes in the city, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the city-county merger. The collection will be open until July 25.
This collection of items is being organized to mark the 30th anniversary of the 1995 merger of Songtan City, Pyeongtaek City, and Pyeongtaek County.
The items to be collected include a wide range of everyday materials that reflect the lives of citizens over the past 30 years since 1995. These include items that represent personal identity and social relationships, such as diplomas, business cards, identification cards, and membership cards, as well as objects that reflect daily life and the spirit of the times, such as photographs, banknotes, diaries, school uniforms, class timetables, and pay-as-you-throw garbage bags.
Those wishing to participate can submit their items at their local eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare centers. The final selection of items for the time capsule will be made by a donation review committee. Donors will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Mayor of Pyeongtaek.
Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jangsun stated, "Even the smallest records of daily life hold great significance in the history of a community," adding, "This will be a meaningful event that proves that the time of each and every citizen is, in fact, the history of the city."
