Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province will host the 4th Gangcheonsan National Singing Contest at Gangcheonsan Provincial Park on September 27.
According to the county on July 4, this nationwide music festival is organized by Sunchang County and hosted by the Sunchang branch of the Korea Local Music Association (headed by Han Kyungyeon). The event aims to promote local culture and the arts, as well as to discover new talent.
Set against the beautiful natural scenery of Gangcheonsan, the contest is designed as a comprehensive cultural event that goes beyond a music competition, allowing local residents and tourists to enjoy it together. In particular, it is expected to provide unexpected enjoyment for the many tourists who visit Gangcheonsan in the fall.
Before the finals, a preliminary round to select participants will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 30 at the Paldeok-myeon Gymnasium in Sunchang County. Contestants from all over the country will showcase their talents and compete fiercely for a place in the finals.
Anyone can participate regardless of age or region; however, professional singers and previous winners of singing contests are restricted from participating in line with the event's goal of discovering new talent.
Applications will be accepted until August 29. Applicants may choose the most convenient method among the following: accessing a Naver form link, scanning a QR code, or sending an image of the application form. The participation fee is 30,000 won and must be deposited into the designated account at the time of application. For registration and further inquiries, applicants should contact the secretary-general.
A county official stated, "The Gangcheonsan National Singing Contest goes beyond a simple competition to broaden the base of local arts and plays a significant role in boosting tourism. We hope that participants and visitors from all over the country will have a meaningful time coming together through music in the beautiful nature of Gangcheonsan."
